Last Chance to Register for the Royal Resorts Foundation Race

Are you staying at  Grand Residences in February? If you enjoy running, you still have the chance to sign up for the Fifth Royal Resorts Foundation Race on February 12, 2023, in Cancun. Join us and help change lives. We are raising money with the race for a playground in the new Parque Cancun for all children to enjoy, including those with physical challenges. The goal is to raise $500,000 pesos.

In previous years our race causes ranged from helping to build a house for a child with brittle bone syndrome; renovating home for an elderly couple and their son to help them cope with mobility challenges, installing a kitchen at a community center for vulnerable teenagers; and providing college scholarships for low-income students.

Run for a cause in 2023

Compete in the 5 or 10-kilometer race, the 3-kilometer walk and there’s a race for the children too.

Adults

  • The race for adults starts at 7:20 a.m. on February 12, 2023. The race route is along Kukulcán Boulevard and the start and finish line is in Captain’s Cove car park.
  • 5 or 10 kilometers
  • 3-kilometer walk
  • Age categories for men and women
    Free (13-39 years) Master (40-49 years) Veteran (50 and over)
  • Race fee: Adults $300 pesos, Children $250 pesos
    Includes: competitor number, souvenir t-shirt, chip for 5 and 10 km competitors, finalist medal, water, isotonic drink when crossing the finish line
  • Prizes will be given to the first three places in each category in the 5 and 10 km races for men and women. The first three Royal Resorts employees to cross the finish in the 5 and 10 km races for men and women will also receive prizes.

Children

Bring the kids! There is a race for them too!

    Race starts at 7 a.m.

Race packets will be handed out on February 11 in Gran Salón at Hacienda Sisal next to The Royal Sands* from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.

*NOTE: Competitors who do not collect their race packet on February 11, time and in the location indicated will lose all rights to compete. Race packets will not be handed out after this time or on the race day. 

About Parque Cancun

A new community space for Cancun residents and visitors, Parque Cancun is taking shape on the original landfill site for the city of Cancun. The land has been reclaimed and reforested, transforming it into a green space with walkways, play areas, quiet corners for yoga and meditation and even chess classes, an amphitheater for concerts, palapas for environmental awareness talks, a timeline of the history of the world, a sundial and much more. In future stages of the Parque Cancun project, a biodiversity museum, nature trails and other attractions are planned.

Located behind the schools and universities on Bonampak Avenue in Downtown Cancun, it lies next to the mangrove forest on the shores of Nichupte Lagoon, which is a protected area, and it is a haven for wildlife, such as parrots, Yucatan jays, pygmy owls, coatimundi, opossum, raccoon and grey fox, among others.

From the outset, Royal Resorts has been involved in the development of the park, sending gardeners to help in the landscaping. The Royal Resorts Foundation has decided to give more support to this community cause in 2023 and proceeds from the race will be donated to the park to fund a children’s playground.
