Whale shark season ends on September 15

Don’t miss this incredible eco adventure. If you are staying at Grand Residences this month, it is your last chance to see the whale sharks this year as the season ends on September 15. Swim with the world’s largest fish in an unforgettable encounter with gentle giants.

Ocean wanderers journeying through the tropical seas in search of food, these beautiful creatures gather to feast on plankton and fish roe in the Mexican Caribbean during the summer months. There are eco trips to the whale shark feeding grounds in the zona de afuera or blue waters to the east of Isla Mujeres and Contoy and off the coast of Holbox and Cabo Catoche.

Pelicans and frigate birds fly overhead as you sail past Contoy. Pods of playful dolphins often swim alongside boats, and you may also spot turtles feeding and giant manta rays leaping from the surface of the water.
