Viva Mexico
Enjoy an evening of mouthwatering Mexican cuisine in Flor de Canela during your Grand Residences vacation. If you are here in September join us for Mexican Independence activities and celebrations, live music and more.
What to order at Flor de Canela? You could start with an assortment of tasty corn-based antojitos or snacks to share. These include sopes, quesadillas, tlacoyos, different varieties of tacos, and panuchos from the Yucatan, which are fried corn tortillas filled with refried beans and topped with pork or chicken. Be sure to order guacamole too and try the freshly made salsas.
For a taste of the sea, order the crispy pescadillas filled with fish stewed in different sauces, a mixed ceviche, shrimp aguachile or a fresh tuna tostada.
There are three delicious soups on the menu, a classic Caesar salad and the Milpa salad, a delightful mix of fresh vegetables, toasted pepitas or pumpkin seeds and goat cheese drizzled with Jamaica flower vinaigrette.
Main courses range from filete Azteca, tender beef with Oaxaca cheese au gratin, nopales and mild pasilla chili and lamb fillet in almond sauce to chicken in Oaxaca-style mole sauce. Pork fans will want to try a Yucatan classic, cochinita pibil, pork marinated in achiote and Seville orange juice, wrapped in banana leaves and slow cooked. In Maya villages it is traditionally prepared in a pib or cooking pit and it is always served with tortillas, xnipek habanero chili sauce and pickled red onion.
Seafood choices include tikinxic, marinated grilled fish, lobster in garlic butter and tequila flambéed shrimp.
As you enjoy your meal, listen to traditional Mexican music and songs performed by the popular duet Cielito Lindo.
