Cancun Airport News
We have some good news to share with you from Cancun International Airport. Cancun, Puerto Vallarta and Los Cabos have been selected for the implementation of a pilot project to speed up Immigration checks for arriving visitors. The process is now paperless, a completed immigration form (Forma Migratoria Múltiple or FMM) is no longer required, printed or online. Visitors only need to show a valid passport and a return airline ticket to enter the country. Staff will check and stamp your passport with the number of the days that you are permitted to stay in the country. For most visitors it is 90 to 180 days depending on the nationality. There are some exceptions however, visitors from Brazil and Venezuela are granted 30-day visas.
Immigration staff may also ask to see proof of booked accommodation, as well as funds to cover your intended stay while in the country.
This streamlined process and a full complement of Immigration staff is expected to reduce wait times. Further enhancements such as the use of biometric screening technology may be added in the future.
Passengers arriving under special circumstances including those on study visas, work visas, exchange visas, and other specific cases still need to complete an online Immigration form prior to travel to Mexico.
