Wine of the Month
Sommelier Juan Carlos Espadas has a delightful Cabernet Sauvignon from the Napa Valley for you this month. The Mascot began as a family wine made with grapes harvested at several hillside vineyards. Storing the wine for longer to mature gives it more depth and it is vibrant and eminently drinkable, one to enjoy with friends.
The Mascot
Harlan, Napa Valley, California
Cabernet Sauvignon 2010
A crisp, ruby red wine with hints of deep violet, it has a complex bouquet with melancholy notes of ripe black fruit, eucalyptus, black tea, herbs, including licorice, cedar and graphite. The texture is well balanced and soft tannins expand in waves on the palate resolving into a long finish.
Serve with steaks and meat dishes. It is a recommended pairing for Steak Diane in El Faro Grill.
