Puerto Morelos celebrated its first year as Mexico’s youngest municipality on January 6. A ceremony in the main square was followed by a Dia de Reyes (Kings Day) fiesta with music, the cutting of the traditional rosca de reyes cake and surprises for children.
The iconic leaning lighthouse of Puerto Morelos currently features on Mexican national lottery tickets and as part of the one-year anniversary celebrations the grand draw was held in the port on January 8.
