On September 10, Grand Residences team members took part in a beach cleaning day in Puerto Morelos organized by the Municipal government, Ocean Conservancy and the area’s hotels.
Volunteers collected 255 kilos of garbage on this occasion, separating plastics, glass, aluminum and other metals for recycling. They also removed organic refuse and two kilos of cigarette stubs, which are unsightly, a danger to wildlife and do not break down over time.
The event forms part of a global initiative to keep the world’s beaches and shorelines clean, Similar events took place in Cancun and Isla Blanca on September 11 and Playa del Carmen has scheduled its own beach cleaning day for October 22.
