A group of Playa del Carmen artists are transforming the walls and fences in different parts of town with colorful murals. In the last year they have painted over 40 with scenes depicting Mexican traditions or nature and they are going for more.
They are looking for muralists from other parts of Mexico and abroad to join them for the Second Playa del Carmen Se Pinta de Colors Festival scheduled to take place at the end of July.
In 2014, artists from Argentina, Canada, Germany and the states of Guerrero, Oaxaca, Morelos, Queretaro, Yucatan, in addition to muralists from different parts of the Mexican Caribbean, took part in the festival and the goal this year is to double the number of walls transformed into art.
Artists who are interested in participating can contact the organizers via the Playa del Carmen and Playa del Carmen Se Pinta de Colores Facebook pages.
